Notes from 6/2/17 - Can't keep a good zombie down

The party returned to the north via griffin. The griffins landed, and the party traveled on foot. Shortly after crossing the bridge into the shadow lands, the fey spoke into their heads, saying that the party broke their agreement to stay away. The party advanced none-the-less.

The party heard marching ahead and slipped into the bushes on either side of the road. A knight on a skeletal horse, in a group of zombies and skeletons, advanced down the road. The party waited patiently as the group slowly advanced. The knight seemed to be scanning both sides of the road.

Fuma loaded a bolt into his new crossbow.
There was much waiting.
Chip cast a Fire Bolt at a zombie.
Fuma shot the crossbow bolt into the other zombie.

Sedon put a hex on the knight and hit him with an Eldritch Blast.
Eclipse turned into a giant spider and shot a web at the knight.
Arrowroot shot arrows into the knight.
Zombies attacked Sedon and Chip, hitting Chip.
Skeletons attacked the same two with pikes, missing.
The skeletal horse attacked the spider, missing. The knight shot an arrow into her.
Fuma attacked the skeleton.
Chip stabbed the zombie.

Sedon cast another Eldritch Blast at the knight.
The spider tried to bite the skeletal horse.
Arrowroot shot another arrow into the knight, dropping him. The atmosphere seemed to crash around the party, and much of the party was knocked down.
The spiky fey (the minlock) attacked Arrowroot, paralyzing him.
A skeleton stabbed Sedon. Sedon cast a Hellish Rebuke in response.
Fuma stood up and knocked the zombie down with his spear. He kicked the skeleton in the head.
Chip stabbed at the skeleton.

Sedon transferred his hex to the spiky fey and cast an Eldritch Blast at it.
The spider closed on the fey and bit it.
The skeletal horse kicked the spider.
A skeleton and a zombie both hit Sedon, dropping his hex.
The minlock stepped into shadow and reappeared next to Sedon. It struck Sedon, but Sedon shook off the paralysis.
The other skeleton clawed at Chip.
With much urging from Sedon, Fuma attacked the spiky fey.
Chip dashed over to the spiky fey and stabbed at it.

Sedon was frightened by the fey and disengaged the battle with it.
The spider shot a web at the horse and then bit it. She then turned back into her tiefling form.
The horse kicked Eclipse. Eclipse cast a Hellish Rebuke in response.
The fey struck Fuma, but shook off the paralysis. A skeleton clawed him. A zombie struck him. The other skeleton stabbed him with a pike.
Fuma stabbed at the minlock. He then prepared to dodge attacks.
Chip stabbed the minlock, dropping it. The shadows retreated some.

Sedon drank a healing potion.
Eclipse turned into a dire wolf and bit the horse.
The horse kicked her.
A zombie struck Fuma. The skeletons missed.
Fuma disengaged.
Chip dashed over to the skeletal horse and stabbed it. The horse fell.

Sedon cast an Eldritch Blast at a skeleton.
The dire wolf closed on the zombie and bit it.
The zombie struck Eclipse; the skeletons missed.
Fuma quaffed a potion.
Chip closed on a skeleton and stabbed it.

Sedon slapped Arrowroot in an attempt to wake him up. He then shot an Eldritch Blast wide of anything.
The dire wolf bit the zombie again, knocking it prone.
The zombie hit Eclipse. A skeleton stabbed her.
Fuma quaffed another potion.
Chip stabbed the skeleton again; it crumbled.

Sedon cast Eldritch Blast at the zomblie, but it continued to move.
Eclipse healed herself. She then bit the zombie, but it continued to wriggle.
The undead failed to hit Eclipse.
Fuma closed on the skeleton, stabbing it. It dropped.
Chip stabbed at the zombie parts, but it continued to wriggle.

Sedon hit the zombie with another Eldritch blast.
The dire wolf bit it again.
The zombie failed to hit.
Fuma struck zombie parts until it stopped wriggling.

The party searched the battlefield. Without armor, the knight appeared to be a wight. Loot: satchel, bow, armor, and 2 rings.

Chip stabbed the minlock again .. to make sure.

The party attempted to cross the bridge, but it seemed to go on forever. Fuma tried to leave via crossing the stream, but that failed as well. The party presumed that dropping the knight my have further separated the the planes.

The party took a short rest and healed up a bit.

Long Bow +1 (Arrowroot attuned) that offers advantage on Tracking Beasts
6 red fletched arrows
8 black fletched arrows

Studded Leather

Ring of sustenance (Sedon attuned)

Ring of Animal Influence (Fuma attuned) - 3 charges
- cast animal friendship DC 13
- Fear DC 13 (vs. animal INT 3 or less)
- speak with animals

Recovers 1-3 charges at dawn each day

I don't know what "attuned" means, but Eclipse is interested in the Ring of Animal Friendship.
Of course we should only be dividing and discussing divisions when all are present.

"Attuned" is a concept in D&D 5e. See: Magic Item Basics: Attunement.

Initially, attunement can be thought of as a side effect of identifying an item. Once this honorable party decides to do another short rest, an item can be transferred to another. In the meantime, whosoever attuned to an item should hold on to it temporarily, since only their honorable selves can use its magical properties. Still needed: identify both the red and black fletched arrows, and the studded leather armor.

Fuma agrees that this honorable party needs to discuss how to best divide this amazing bounty. Fuma will gladly give the ring to the honorable Eclipse, if that meets with the approval of the rest of this honorable party.

There are other (and safer) options for identifying items, like the Identify spell. It's a ritual spell, but I don't know if anyone in the party has access. It also carries a steep cost at your level (100gp). Maybe a higher cost than the risk of a curse.

No one is bound to these attuned items. Though cursed and intelligent items exist and make blind attuning a risk.
