Notes from 2/1/18 - Dreary yet cheery

Postby Caelesti » Thu Feb 01, 2018 11:20 pm

The adventures met at a gypsy camp. Lots of merry making was taking place.

A bard told a story about a cursed prince, using the fire to help embellish the story. He said that he had been searching far and wide for heroes to help end the curse. Madame Eva could tell them all about it. The adventurers agreed to travel into Barovia to talk to her.

During the night, swarms of screeching bats disturbed the campsite, but did not attack.

The next day, the party passed through the gates of Barovia, eventually entering the village of Barovia. Fog kept the area dreary. Houses looked dark; some were boarded up.

The group traveled beyond toward a lake, passing the road to Ravenloft. Madame Eva was in a tent.

I really enjoyed this first interaction in Ravenloft, and am really looking forward to the campaign. Thanks all, and thanks, especially, to Brianna!

Lots of fun. I'm sure we'll get more serious when the nasties show up.

I had fun for the first parts. Then, when we got through the gates, I couldn't hear the DM over the other players, so I kinda zoned out. Could the DM wear a hear set with mic?

From what I could hear, I do think the set up is well done and engaging.

If the DM is remote it should work, if not, then we should probably make the DM's machine the active mic in the room. A headset wouldn't solve the problem, since its mic would pick up feedback from the room's speakers.

DM does not have a working Skype. He should sit where Seston sits so he is closer to the mic, and so I don't have to keep reminding him to speak up.

Yeah, this is what I get for not turning on my laptop since last June.

Since then, both Skype and Dropbox have declared that I am obsolete.

I'll try to do an OS upgrade (this weekend?) such that I can run both of those programs.

If not, it'll probably be six months before I can justify upgrading my laptop.
